Kindergarten Fees in Kampala: What Parents Should Ask
Kindergarten and daycare fees in Kampala vary widely, and the monthly figure rarely tells the…

Fees are one of the first things parents look at when choosing a kindergarten or daycare in Kampala, and they vary a great deal from school to school. Two schools can quote similar monthly fees and still cost a family very different amounts once registration, meals and hours are taken into account.
This guide explains what kindergarten fees usually cover, the questions worth asking before you compare schools, and Kissyfur’s own fees for 2026.
What kindergarten fees usually include
Most schools charge some combination of the following. Ask each school which apply:
- A registration or admission fee, usually paid once to secure a place
- Tuition, charged monthly or per term
- Different rates for half-day and full-day places
- Meals, either included or charged separately
- Daily rates for families who only need occasional days
- Extras such as uniforms, trips, special events or after-school care
Questions to ask before you compare
The clearest way to compare schools is to ask every school the same questions:
- What exactly is included in the fee, and what is charged separately?
- Is the fee for a half day or a full day, and what are the hours?
- Are meals included? If not, what do they cost?
- Is the registration fee refundable?
- Are fees paid monthly or per term, and when are they due?
- Is there a charge for late payment?
- Can I pay for single days if I only need care occasionally?
- How much notice do you need if my child is leaving?
Monthly or termly fees?
Some schools bill per term, others per month. Monthly billing can be easier to budget for, while termly billing means fewer, larger payments. Either way, convert the fees to the same period before you compare, and check which school holidays are covered.
Look at value, not just the price
The cheapest option is not always the best value, and the most expensive is not always the best school. Consider what the fee pays for: class sizes, the number of teachers in each class, meals, outdoor space, rest areas, activities such as swimming and music, and how well the school communicates with parents. Our checklist for choosing a kindergarten in Kampala covers what to look for on a visit.
